William L. Miller - CEO

Mr. Miller previously served as CEO of AIBiotech, providing drug discovery and diagnostic development organizations a broad range of laboratory services. Mr. Miller joined Bostwick Laboratories, a national anatomic and clinical pathology laboratory, as the laboratory manager for Phoenix, AZ, and was later promoted to COO. Prior to joining Bostwick Laboratories, Mr. Miller's work experience included time with the Banner Healthcare System and the John C. Lincoln Hospital Network. Mr. Miller also spent time in the United States Air Force in both Minot, ND and San Antonio, TX.

Mr. Miller holds a Masters degree in Healthcare Administration and a B.S. in Biology and Chemistry from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ. He was born in Huntington Beach, California and raised in Ecuador, South America, attending high school in Tempe, AZ.

Mr. Miller also worked as a part-time instructor at Phoenix College in the health and science department.

Charnetta Williams - Director of Operations

Mrs. Williams has over 15 years of experience in the healthcare industry, with an emphasis in customer service, training and quality assurance settings. Mrs. Williams joined Bostwick Laboratories, a national anatomic and clinical pathology laboratory, as the Laboratory Reporting and Processing Manager and was later promoted to Medical Records Manager, Insurance Research Manager, Missing Information Manager, Quality Assurance/Quality Control Manager, and lastly Logistics Manager. Prior to joining Bostwick Laboratories, Mrs. Williams' work experience included time with CyMed, Inc, a medical transcription company where she was the Office Manager.

Mrs. Williams received her Associate's Degree in Healthcare Administration from ECPI in Richmond, VA. 

Sarah Jacobs-Helber, PhD, HCLD (ABB)

Sarah Jacobs-Helber, PhD, HCLD (ABB), the Laboratory Director, has more than 15 years of experience in laboratory management and DNA testing and brings considerable expertise to Genetworx's Laboratory. Dr. Jacobs-Helber joined Genetworx in 2013, where she is the Laboratory Director of the high-complexity clinical laboratory as well as Genetworx-ID division of Genetworx. Prior to her position at Genetworx, she served as the Clinical Director of American International Biotechnology (AlBiotech) in Richmond, VA and Assistant Director of Paternity at Fairfax Identity Laboratories, a division of AlBiotech. Dr. Jacobs-Helber received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA and her PhD in Microbiology/Immunology from the Medical College in Virginia in Richmond VA. Her post-doctoral research included time at the National Cancer Institute and the Department of Pharmacology/Toxicology at the Medical College of Virginia. She holds board certification as a high-complexity lab director from the American Board of Bioanalysis and also holds a certificate of qualification as the Director for Molecular Genetics and Parentage testing from the New York State Department of Health. She is the first author on numerous scientific articles published in high-impact journals.

Janay Starckey - Human Identity Accessioning and Client Services Associate

Ms. Starckey is a Human Identity Accessioning and Client Services Associate who is responsible for the collection of biological specimens, accessioning of human identity and forensic casework, and client services. Prior to joining Genetworx, Ms. Starckey's work experience included processing patient specimens to detect chronic disease at an early stage through advanced testing at Health Diagnostic Laboratory, Inc. In addition, she worked withrReview Scientists and performed trend analysis to identify critical indicators to at risk patients. Through her course of work, she's also spent time as an intern at Georgia Bureau of Investigation working with elite forensic scientists within Drug Chemistry and Toxicology departments. Ms. Starckey received her Bachelor's degree in Chemistry with a double minor in Criminal Justice and Forensic Studies from Radford University in Radford, VA.

Damon Faulkner - VP of Sales and Marketing

Damon Faulkner has worked in the Diagnostics, Medical Device and Biologics field for over 25 years and has managed sales teams in those fields for 20 years. He has managed sales teams for Smith+Nephew, Orthovita, Organogenesis as well as sales reps with his own distributorship. Damon brings a track record of successful new product/service campaign launches regionally and nationwide as well as building distribution channels for those launches.

Lonna Durrence - Sales, Marketing and Client Services Manager

Mrs. Durrence manages the Sales, Marketing and Client Services for the Human Identity Division of Genetworx-ID. She has over 20 years of experience within the fields of Biological Relationship testing and Sales and Marketing. Her laboratory experience includes supervision, quality control, purchasing and technical support services for the Bone Marrow Registry of North Carolina. She has provided Sales, Marketing and Client Services for the Human Identity field for many different labs in the eastern region of the U.S. She has excellent customer service background working directly with clients for relationship DNA testing for peace of mind and Legal purposes (Adoption, Inheritance, Survivorship benefits for Social Security, Immigration and Passport). Mrs. Durrence works directly with clients to determine the DNA analysis testing options best suited for their needs. She manages the appointment scheduling, sample collection, the processing of relationship test requests, payment, and is the primary point of contact for all relationship testing inquiries.

She has strong customer service abilities which allow her to provide step-by-step instructions to help guide a client through the complex testing process. Ms. Durrence excels in providing one-on-one client care, ensuring that each case is well taken care of each step of the way. Her expertise is in the field of immigration testing. She has hands-on experience working with embassies around the world as well as immigration and non-profit agencies. Mrs. Durrence obtained her Bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Lori Downum - Clinical Laboratory Manager

Lori Downum joined Genetworx in March 6, 2017 as the Clinical Laboratory Manager.

Mrs. Downum graduated from the Medical College of Virginia in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology and a minor in Administration of Judicial Procedure. She has been registered and certified with The American Society of Clinical Pathologist as a Medical Technologist since 1992. Mrs. Downum obtained her Specialty in Immunology certification in 2004.

From 1992 to 2000, Mrs. Downum worked at the Medical College of Virginia, serving as a Medical Technologist until 1994 when she was promoted to a Senior Medical Technologist for the Microbiology, Immunology, Virology and Flow Cytometry Departments.

In 2000, Mrs. Downum was promoted to Supervisor of the Microbiology, Immunology, Virology, and Flow Cytometry Departments at MCV. As MCV is an educational institution, Mrs. Downum was responsible for teaching medical residents and MT students in addition to overseeing all aspects of patient testing, personnel issues, fiscal responsibility, and regulatory compliance.

Lori Downum joined Bostwick Laboratory in 2006 as the Chemistry Supervisor, was promoted to Laboratory Manager in 2007 and promoted to Chief Laboratory Officer for the Clinical Laboratory in March of 2009 until her departure in December 2013.

Lori Downum joined the staff at Memorial Regional Medical Center in Mechanicsville, Virginia in February 2014. She worked to develop regulatory compliance, training, competency, CE and assisted with other needs of the clinical laboratory.
